Second Graders at WTA Prepare for Chag Pesach

Second graders at Westchester Torah Academy began learning about Pesach in a fun and creative way! Students were asked to recall what they know about the four names that symbolize and describe the holiday: Chag HaPesach, Chag HaMatzot, Chag HaCherut and Chag HaAviv. The class was divided into four groups, and each group illustrated their interpretation of one name representing the holiday.

The Pesach group drew door posts in red and lightning over houses, and used dark colors to emphasize the time Hashem pasach over the Israelites’ houses. The Chag HaCherut group drew a sun, bright blue sky, and Bnei Yisrael dressed in colorful clothes because they were happy and free. The Chag HaMatzot group drew funny matzot, a cup of wine with a mustache, doughnuts and bread with “X” marks to show they are not kosher for Pesach and a family doing biur chametz. The Chag HaAviv group drew trees, flowers, butterflies and birds using light blue and lots of green—the colors of spring.

The activity was concluded with each group describing and explaining their drawings in Hebrew!
