Although Rebbetzin Shani Taragin was in the U.S. from Israel for only a short period of time, she was able to teach Torah to the students at RKYHS. Rebbetzin Taragin gave a shiur on an analysis of Yaakov’s life, his insecurities, hopes, dreams and the development of his relationship with God. Her unbelievable depth and breadth of Torah knowledge shone through, as did her incredible way of making the Torah come alive and relevant. Rebbetzin Taragin is also the teacher, mentor and friend of many of the RKYHS faculty members including Rabbi Chamudot, Ms. Margot Reinstein, Mrs. Norma Mintz and Mrs. Sharon Weinstein; it was remarkable to see the excitement in the students over learning from the same person who taught their teachers. This was particularly apparent when she employed similar methodological approaches to studying Tanach that the students had learned in their classes. This was the second year that RKYHS students learned with Rebetzin Taragin.
