Mrs. Feldblum’s junior English class at Frisch utilized the Socratic method last week to discuss Tim O’Brien’s classic work of fiction about the Vietnam War, “The Things They Carried.” Half of the students in the class engaged in a discussion, while the other half observed and wrote up the points that were made.
Mrs. Feldblum and other Frisch educators use the Socratic method as a great way to foster cooperative debate and dialogue, encourage critical thinking and inspire thoughtful answers and new ideas from students among their circle of peers.
“Giving our students the tools to be able think critically about the material they are learning, rather than simply handing them the information, is one of our most important priorities and a key value at Frisch,” said Mrs. Feldblum.
