Soloveitchik Memorial Shiur Set for April 5th

The Annual Memorial Shiur on the occasion of the 22nd yahrzeit of HaGaon Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik zt”l,The Rav, will be held Motza’ei Yom Tov, Sunday, April 5 at 9:15 p.m. at Congregation Shomrei Emunah, 89 Huguenot Avenue, in Englewood. The program is sponsored by the Orthodox Union’s Department of Community Engagement.

Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of OU Kosher, Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), and Mara D’atra of Congregation Shomrei Emunah, will speak. Rabbi Genack was a devoted talmid of the Rav and has extensively edited his works and commented on his teachings. Rabbi Genack is General Editor of OU Press, which was founded in great part to publish the works of The Rav as well as commentaries on him by experts. Among these publications is “The Seder Night: An Exalted Evening,” featuring the full text of the Passover Haggadah with a comprehensive commentary by the Rav.

Joining Rabbi Genack as speakers will be by Rabbi Yosef Adler, Morah d’Atra of Congregation Rinat Israel in Teaneck and Rosh HaYeshiva of Torah Academy of Bergen County, and Rabbi Hershel Reichman, Rosh Yeshiva at RIETS. Like Rabbi Genack, both were dedicated disciples of The Rav.

“It is hard to believe that 22 years have passed since the Rav was taken from us,” Rabbi Genack said. “But he lives on in the study of his teachings, in the memories of his students – myself very much included – and at the Orthodox Union and Yeshiva University, which are guided in their philosophies by his wisdom. As we conclude the first two days of Pesach, there can be no better way to go from the Shabbat/Yom Tov weekend into Chol Hamoed than by attending this annual shiur. Congregation Shomrei Emunah is pleased to host the program, as it does every year.”
