SSTC Commemorates Kristallnacht

(Courtesy of SSTC) In commemoration of the 84th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Synagogue of the Suburban Torah joined hundreds of other congregations worldwide and left its lights on all night as part of the “Light From the Synagogue” project.

As SSTC Rabbi James Proops said, “We illuminate our shul to remember and pray for a brighter future for all of humanity.”

The Light From the Synagogue initiative began 15 years ago and is spearheaded by Kibbutz HaDati, the religious kibbutz movement, to remember the night in 1938 when the Nazis carried out a murderous and horrific pogrom against Jews in Germany and Austria. Among the groups lending their support to this initiative are the Chief Rabbinate in Israel, Tzohar Rabbinic Organization, World Bnei Akiva, the World Union of Synagogues and numerous other groups.
