Sophomore students enjoyed a tasting of dystopian novels at “Starbooks” in the new Ma’ayanot Student Center. English teachers Samantha Kur and Tammie Rapps served up a delectable array of dystopian fiction (and cafe treats) to whet students’ appetites for an upcoming literature circle unit. After exploring the first few pages of each novel, students ranked their interest in each title on a Starbooks scale of tall, grande, venti and trenta. Finally, they made their selections for which novel to read from the complete menu of choices. Over the next six weeks, students will work in small groups to discuss, analyze and write about the genre as presented in the exciting world of their chosen book.
