Stephen Flatow Inspires RKYHS Students

RKYHS students had the opportunity to hear from Stephen Flatow during a recent SEED session. His talk was in commemoration of the 23rd yahrzeit of his daughter Alisa Flatow. Alisa, who attended JKHA, graduating in 1988, and was killed in April 1995 along with seven Israeli soldiers when a suicide bomber attacked their bus. Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist group with ties to Iran, took responsibility for the bombing.

In an unprecedented case, Flatow successfully sued Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism. Flatow gave students insight into who his daughter was as a person and detailed her passion for Israel and for her fellow Jews. His inspiring talk imparted to students that they must rise above the challenges they encounter. He stressed the importance of standing up for something you believe in, and how sometimes you have to stand up to something bigger than you. He left students with the lasting message that we all have a responsibility to advocate and inspire others.
