Storm Baseball Looks To the Playoffs

(TABC sports) The TABC Baseball team hosted the JEC Thunder in their first game since returning from the Columbus Baseball Invitational on Friday, May 24. This was a win the Storm needed to avoid falling out of playoff contention. TABC struck first in the bottom of the first inning off a two-out, two-run RBI single from Michael Greenberg ’25. Fast forward to the top of the third and the Thunder flipped the game on its head, scoring five runs and taking a commanding lead.

All hope seemed lost until the sixth inning. Ayden Gurin ’24 ripped an RBI double to right to cut the deficit to within two. With two outs, Ezra Epstein ’25 kept things alive by bringing home Gurin, and tied the game with great baserunning when Shaya Bodner ’26 put the ball in play. With runners on first and second, Sammy Levine ’25 was up to face his former team and twin brother on the mound. A wild pitch was thrown in the sequence to advance the runners in scoring position. Levine grounded to short and was able to avoid being thrown out with his blazing speed, which allowed the Storm to reclaim the lead. Shia Forgash ’25 drove in two critical insurance runs to build the lead up to three. Fantastic relief pitching from Bodner (7 K’s, 0 hits given up in 5 2/3 innings) secured the 8-5 win for the Storm, who officially punched their ticket into the playoffs. A few days later, TABC mercied North Shore 11-0 to finish their season at 5-3 and will now face Frisch in the first round of the playoffs.
