TABC AP Gov Class Heads to Trenton

Last Thursday, March 28, seniors in Liam Machlin’s AP US Government elective embarked on an exciting and educational trip to the Capitol building in Trenton, New Jersey. The trip provided students with a firsthand look at the state government in action and allowed them to deepen their understanding of the political process. During the visit, students had the opportunity to tour the Capitol building, including the legislative chambers and the executive chamber. They learned about the history of the building and its significance in the state’s political history. Additionally, students had the chance to meet with state legislators and officials, engaging in discussions about current issues facing the state and the role of government in addressing these challenges. The students also got to sit in a finance committee hearing and listen to expert testimony. The trip gave students valuable insights into the importance of the government’s workings and civic engagement and allowed them to apply their classroom learning to real-world situations, further inspiring them to become informed and active citizens.
