TABC Basketball Sweeps SAR Doubleheader

The TABC Storm traveled to Riverdale on Tuesday night to take on the SAR Sting in a crucial JV/varsity doubleheader. The JV team were hoping to keep their unbeaten season record intact while the varsity squad was looking to avenge their loss to SAR six days earlier. The JV team raced out to an early lead but allowed SAR to get back into the game, finding themselves down by five at halftime. Every time it seemed the Sting would pull away, TABC freshman standout Ezra Adams would make a big shot to keep the Storm in it. In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, down by one, sophomore Zachy Lowe hit a big three in the corner to give the Storm the lead for good, as they finished well in the paint both on the offensive and defensive ends. TABC won by a final score of 61-53 and are now 5-0. Adams finished with a game high 23 points, Lowe had 16 and freshman Tani Stein chipped in with 10.

Next up was varsity. The Storm needed to win by at least five or more to clinch the season tiebreaker over SAR. Similar to the JV game, the Storm were off to a big start and led by as many as 14 points, but SAR chipped at the lead and were down only one point at halftime. The Storm then went on a 6-0 run and 7-0 run during sequences in the third quarter and regained their composure. They then turned to their takeover man, senior Eyal Kinderlehrer. Kinderlehrer was so dominant in the paint that the only way the Sting were able to stop him was by fouling him. Kinderlehrer finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Akiva Borgen also landed in double figures with 13 points, coming up with a few big time blocks in what eventually resulted in a 53-42 victory. The Storm are now 8-1 and hold the tiebreaker over SAR should these two top contenders finish at the top of the standings.
