TABC emerged as champions of College Bowl again this year! Both the varsity and junior varsity teams took home the trophies for winning their respective divisions at the championship matches held at the Jewish Education Project office in New York last week.
Captained by Nathanael Vinar ‘19 and Ephraim Helfgot ‘20, the junior varsity team soundly beat their semifinal opponent to meet HAFTR in the finals and then provided one final victory to clinch their division and bring home the championship trophy, completing yet another undefeated JV College Bowl season.
The varsity team led by captains Yaakov Zinberg ‘18, Shlomi Helfgot ‘18, Yonatan Kurz ‘18 and Avraham Kahan ‘19, thoroughly defeated Central/YUHSG in their semi-final match, and finished with a nail biting two point victory over Flatbush Yeshiva High School in the championship, with the final winning answer capping off another undefeated season. The graduating members of the College Bowl team have never lost a match in their four years on the team! Special appreciation is to be accorded to them for their many years of stalwart accomplishments and victories.
Additional members of the junior varsity and varsity teams include Yosef Aryeh Kahan ‘18, Eli Sadek ‘18, Shmuel Adler ‘18, Moshe Gutfreund ‘19, Ezriel Vinar ‘21, Daniel Rothstein ‘20, Yehuda Mazin ‘21, Michael Schwartz ‘20, Sam Weinberg ‘20, Aharon Goldstein ‘19, Isaac Shapiro ‘19 and Noam Barenholtz ‘21. The teams are guided by their longtime coach, Manny Landau, who takes great pride in the accomplishments of these outstanding students and feels very lucky to be able to associate himself with such great examples of strong intellect, character and sportsmanship.
