TABC Commemorates 85th Anniversary of Kristallnacht

TABC’s senior Holocaust elective class presented a moving exhibition on the Night of Broken Glass to the freshman class on Thursday, November 9, the 85th anniversary of the Kristallnacht. Students took turns presenting the events that led up to Kristallnacht and illustrated the troubling similarities between 1938 Germany and present times. The students’ presentations explained the tactics that Hitler used to sway the German public into believing his antisemitic tropes. Hitler and his movement hung flags with swastikas as well as anti-Jewish posters all around the country, chanted antisemitic slurs and more. So too today, Hamas and its supporters use propaganda to turn the world against the Jews. Their supporters have painted swastikas on Jewish homes and businesses, broken windows, torn down posters of kidnapped Israeli citizens and more. Sadly, the lessons of the past resonate deeply today and it is for that reason that we can never forget.
