TABC sent a group of students from Dr. Garry Katz’s AP American History and AP U.S. Government classes to attend a program at the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency at Hofstra University. The students participated in a question and answer session with former presidential candidate Howard Dean III who was the chairman of the Democratic National Committee in 2005 through 2009, and Edward J. Rollins, a political strategist and a White House advisor during the Ford, Reagan and Bush administrations. During the session, Binyamin Novetsky ‘17 asked the speakers about their feelings on the Electoral College and its role. The question and answer session was followed by a panel discussion entitled “Understanding Personality, Leadership and Policy Making in the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidency.” Over the course of the morning, each student got to individually interact with both Ed Rollins and Howard Dean.
