This past Wednesday, more than two dozen TABC students, together with Ms. Hoenig, Rabbi Wiener and Rabbi Jachter, traveled to Washington to join the NORPAC mission. The TABC students were among 1,500 Jews who conducted meetings with 470 members of Congress over vital issues of Israel’s defense. The items discussed included 3.1 billion dollars in military aid to Israel in addition to $470 million allocated to anti-missile defense systems such as the Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow II and III. The need for a proper deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program was strongly emphasized along with tough sanctions against Hezbollah. The day was an exhausting one for TABC students who began it with 5:15 a.m. shacharit and ended with maariv at 11 p.m. However, all found the opportunity to directly speak to members of Congress on behalf of Israel to be an exhilarating experience well worth the effort and sacrifice.
