Last Thursday, TABC rebbe Rabbi Chaim Jachter organized a virtual tour of Ir David for the juniors, led by master Israeli tour guide, Arky Staiman. From his home in Teko, Staiman “led” the juniors to Ir David where they viewed such treasures as the Tahor Road, the special road ascending from the massive mikveh close to Har HaBayit to Har HaBayit itself. Arky showed the students the treasures found on this road, including a Tahor seal (just like the one found on the seal of oil used to light the menorah for the Chanukah miracle) and a pa’amon that fell from the clothes of the Kohen Gadol. The students thoroughly enjoyed the tour, especially Staiman’s charismatic presentation. The timing turned out to be perfect and served not only as an appropriate precursor to Chanukah, but an inspiring pick-me-up on a Zoom day for the juniors. Kudos to Rabbi Jachter for organizing this special program for the Chibat Ha’aretz and Ulpan classes!
