On Wednesday November 2, students in TABC’s STEM program had the unique opportunity to combine engineering with chesed, as they participated in a toy drive at the Westchester Institute for Human Development. What made this toy drive unique is that the toys needed to be modified so as to be accessible for children with disabilities. Following the provided instructions, the boys used their soldering skills honed in engineering class to add accessible switches that don’t require a strong grip to activate. The event highlighted one of the main goals of STEM at TABC—to empower students to make a real difference in the world for all types of people.
