TABC Storm Sweeps Heschel Heat in Basketball Doubleheader

TABC basketball welcomed the Heschel Heat into town this for a back-to-back showdown. The JV were up first and it was a special night for them, finally celebrating their home opener. Heschel was able to keep pace with the Storm in the beginning of the game, but they struggled all night to break the Storm press and TABC eventually went on to win by an overwhelming 76-40. Every player had a chance to play. The Storm were paced with great bench production from Shmuel Yablok ‘22 and Natanel Benloulou ‘23. Joey Zelig ‘22 was also terrific off the bench, helping to create stops and turning defense into offense.

Varsity had a bigger test on their hands against the defending champs and their reigning MVP. Going into the fourth quarter, the Heat and Storm were deadlocked 45-45. Then Zevi Samet ‘21 happened. Samet was shooting lights out from downtown down the stretch and Heschel were out of answers in neutralizing him. Samet ultimately went on to finish with 30 points hitting seven triples beyond the arc. Yehuda Mirwis ‘20 put in a good shift with great hustle and defense throughout the night and Ari Kaminetzky ‘20 made many clutch plays down the stretch to secure the biggest win of the season for the varsity, 65-55.
