Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Teach NJ Thanks Gov. Murphy

(Courtesy of Teach NJ) Teach NJ, the leading advocacy organization for New Jersey’s nonpublic school children, expresses its thanks to Gov. Phil Murphy for ensuring that all of New Jersey’s students—public and nonpublic—will receive the resources they need even under these extraordinary circumstances, as he recently unveiled his nine-month budget proposal. The governor has demonstrated his ongoing commitment to keep all K-12 students safe as he increased nonpublic school security funding by approximately $25 per pupil, bringing the total allocation to $25.8 million.

This increase is a recognition by leadership in Trenton that the dangers of anti-Semitism and other hate-motivated violence is still prevalent and has gone unabated. The funding enables the nonpublic schools to take concrete steps to better protect their facilities, students and staff from potential terror threats and attacks. The governor’s new budget proposal continues that promise to our students.

We look forward to working with Gov. Murphy and the state legislature to continue to make sure that security and other critical services at all New Jersey schools are funded fairly.
