Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Adina Pinsker

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 17-year-old Adina Pinsker as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Bruriah High School junior is having another great season for the Lightning, who have advanced to play in the championship game this Thursday night against Frisch. When asked about Adina, Bruriah Athletic Director Susan Rifkin told the JLNJ “One of the fastest trajectories of maturation belongs to Adina. Fast, coachable and smart, Adina leaves it all on the court and makes the most of each opportunity.”

Adina, yasher koach on this honor and another great season. Who is your role model and why?

My role models are my parents and some of my teachers.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

I would say my greatest sports accomplishment was once in eighth grade scoring 32 points in a game.

What is your pregame routine?

I play both basketball and softball. For basketball, I usually start by taking shots around the key, starting from the closest line to the basket, then move across to the opposite side, then move back one and repeat. I try make each one in a row and if I miss one, I will start over again from the first box closest to the basket. I then do foul shots followed by threes.

What is your favorite sports memory?

One of my favorite sports memories was winning the championships in little league. I know it was little league but it was really exciting.

What is your earliest sport memory?

My earliest sports memory is my father coming home from work with a little wooden bat, a safety squeeze ball and small mitts for me and my twin brother. I started playing in little league and went on to play for 10 years. I was on a shomer Shabbos team. My friend and I were the only girls on our team and as the years went on we became the only team with girls in the entire baseball league.

What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?

When I am not playing sports, I like to paint and draw. I have my own small business of painting murals for people.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Being chosen as Sportstar is really an honor and it really makes me feel proud about the hundreds of hours I put in playing and improving my skill in sports. But at the end of the day, I do it because I love it.

The Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift certificate to Teaneck Doghouse. Please send nominees for an upcoming Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week to [email protected].
