Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Aiden Rauzman

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 12-year-old Aiden Rauzman as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Noam seventh grader had a great week at Camp Overtime, picking up a thrilling championship victory for the Camp Overtime Wolfpack. Aiden won the Points Leader trophy and scored the game winning goal in the championship.

Aiden, congratulations on the championship and a great session at camp overtime. Who is your role model and why?

My role models are my two older brothers. Asher is 16 and is always there to make me laugh. Ophir is 14 and is my go to person to play with. He’s always up for any sports game—basketball, hockey, baseball, Xbox, Ping Pong. They both always include me and inspire me to include others. I hope I can be that kind of role model to my sister Mia and my brother Elisha.

What is your favorite sport?

My favorite sport is hockey.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

This past summer, I was in Camp Overtime. It was in the championship game. My team, the Wolfpack, was playing against the Comets. We were winning but at the last minute, they scored and put us into overtime. Nobody scored so it went into double-overtime. Then I scored the double overtime championship goal. I felt good that my team won and I was able to help.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Mats Zuccarello. I’ve learned that he was very short and it’s hard for him, but he is still one of the best players in his team.

What is your pregame routine, if you have one?

I like to stretch before a game with my music in my headphones.

What is your earliest sport memory?

When I was 6,-me and my cousin Benji were playing soccer and I asked him if I could play goalie. He took a shot and I saved it, but the next one he bombed at my head.

What is your favorite sports memory?

In fifth grade, at the TABC Junior Hockey championship game, I scored with 34 seconds left to tie up the game. We went into overtime, and then I scored the winning goal.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not on the court?

I love to chill and laugh with my friends, go bike riding and watch TV.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

One year, my dad took us to the NHL winter classic. It was so cold, so at every period we all went to the bathroom to be warm because it was heated in there.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
