Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Dani Greenberg

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 14-year-old Dani Greenberg as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The eighth grader at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey is coming off another tremendous season as the RYNJ Jaguars captured back-to-back YMSSA hockey league championships. This past season Greenberg tallied nine goals and seven assists and registered a point in eight of the nine games. In the playoffs he had six goals and two assists (scoring in all three playoff games. Greenberg was named the unofficial MVP of the championship game with two of the Jaguars three goals.

Dani, yasher koach on another great season. Who are your role models?

My parents are my role models because they have taught me that with hard work and determination you can reach your goals. They have encouraged me to be my best, to be a strong team player and most importantly to be a good person.

What is your favorite sport?

My favorite sport is hockey—both floor and ice.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Winning back to back middle school hockey championships—this year and last year.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Henrik Lundqvist because of his strong dedication to his team.

What is your pregame routine, if you have one?

Before a game I shoot around with my teammates on the court.

What is your earliest sport memory?

My earliest sport memory was when I was in Kindergarten and played ice hockey for the first time at the Ice House.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

My weirdest sports memory was when I played in a TABC Jr Hockey championship game which went into overtime with a 0-0 score and the power went out and we all had to leave the building. The whole championship game had to be replayed again on a different day.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory was going with my father to Game 7 of the 2015 second round playoffs where the Rangers defeated the Capitals in overtime.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

Hanging out with my friends and family.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

I am proud to be able to represent my school, teammates and coaches.
