Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Jack Weiss

The Jewish Link of NJ and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 12-year-old Jack Weiss as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Noam seventh grader excelled at the Daniel Tamir Select Basketball Camp this summer (powered by CMEK). Coach Tamir told the JLNJ, “Jack was selected because of his hard work, dedication and high motivation to learn, develop and grow while being a good friend and teammate. Jack represented the values that Daniel Tamir Select is instilling in our young athletes and we had a lot of fun working with Jack.”

Jack, congrats on your performance at the Daniel Tamir Select Basketball Camp. If you had to select one person, who would you say is your role model and why?

I would say my brother, if I had only one, but I don’t, I have 3, so can’t choose between them all. For this reason I am going to choose, Nick Foles, the quarterback from the Philadelphia Eagles, because he defied all the odds against him and won the Super Bowl.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Greatest sports accomplishment was making and starting on the Yeshivat Noam basketball team.

Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

Damian Lillard, because of his effectiveness on both sides of the ball and in big moments.

What is your pregame routine?

I go over all potential game plays, so when my coach calls one out, I know where I have to be on the court, at any particular moment.

What is your earliest sport memory?

My earliest sports memory was when I first started to play basketball with my older brothers and tried so hard to keep up with them.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory was when the Mets made it to the World Series in 2015.

What do you like to do when, you are not playing sports?

My favorite thing to do when not playing sports is hanging out with my friends, but it ultimately always ends up in us playing some sort of sport.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

The best thing about being chosen to be a Sportstar, is that if it ever happens again, that this will definitely be the answer to, “What’s my favorite sports memory?”:)

The Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift at the Teaneck Doghouse. Please send nominees for an upcoming Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week to [email protected].
