Tenafly Chabad Academy Joins Teach NJ Mission to Trenton

Four of Tenafly Chabad Academy’s middle school students had the privilege of joining the Teach NJ Mission to Trenton. Tenafly Chabad Academy, along with other New Jersey yeshiva day schools, sent students as representatives to the State Assembly to meet with government leaders and lobby for private schools. They were there to turn the representatives’ attention to issues that impact the schools.

The students had the opportunity to interact with state Assemblywoman Shama Haider and State Senator Reginald Atkins. Among the topics discussed with them were funding for additional security in private schools, STEM programs and transportation. Each student spoke to their experiences and how they have been affected by these programs and were able to express gratitude to the elected officials for their continued support of funding for non-public schools.

After meeting with some of New Jersey state elected officials the students were treated to an informative tour of the New Jersey State House. They visited the chambers of the State Congress and learned about some notable figures and events from New Jersey’s long and illustrious history.

The students represented TCA and the community admirably and walked away from the experience being able to feel like they are making a difference.
