The Idea School Students Lead Discussions at JCC Staff Meeting

Now that the JCC’s programs can interact with each other again, The Idea School students are once again able to share their learning with others. One of the most meaningful ways is having students share their beit midrash learning with the JCC staff. This past week, junior students unpacked the moment in Megillat Esther when Mordechai urges Esther to act to save the Jews, comparing it with a chapter in Harvard Negotiation Project’s “Difficult Conversations” on core identity. Some of the questions posed to the JCC staff were: Was Esther made to feel unworthy, incompetent, not good enough? How can we avoid attacking others in their core identities? How can we check our emotions so we’re not feeling attacked? The JCC staff were amazed at the students and their understanding of the topic and their confidence in presentations. The students and faculty are looking forward to many more opportunities to share their learnings with others at the JCC.
