The Jewish Community Of Zhytomyr Continues to Integrate Into Israeli Society

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) The Jewish community that escaped Zhytomyr, Ukraine, along with Rabbi Shlomo and Esther Vilhelm, settled in Ashkelon, Israel. On a recent trip to Israel, Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky visited the community and was extremely pleased to hear that most of the children are in schools and are improving greatly in their Hebrew-language skills. The children are also receiving social and psychological mentoring to help them ease into their new lives.

The women and children who escaped are still living in apartments that Rabbi Vilhelm rented for them. They are provided with food, clothing and shelter. The husbands and fathers are unable to leave war-torn Ukraine and are therefore unable to be with their families.

Bris Avrohom has supported this project from the time the women and children escaped Ukraine and continues its support. If you would like to help the Bris Avrohom/Zhytomyr/Israel project, please contact Rabbi Kanelsky at 908-289-0770.
