The Jewish Link Sportstar of the Week: Aharon Rozehzadah

The Jewish Link would like to recognize 11-year-old Aharon Rozehzadah as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The rising sixth grader at the JEC averaged over 30 points per game in this past year’s West Orange Basketball League. A source told the JL, “Rozehzadah is a true leader, scoring 44 points in his teams semi-finals victory, before the season was halted for COVID-19.”

Aharon, congrats on a huge semi-finals game and on being recognized as Sportstar of the Week. Who are your role models and why?

My role model is my dad, or as they say in Iran, BaBa, and my mom. My father is my role model because he takes me to the sports games that I thought I would never be able to go to, and he helps me with my homework. My mother is my role model because she rescues me from my older brothers and takes me to do fun activities.

What is your favorite sport?

My favorite sport is basketball because all my brothers are so good at it and I want to be just as good as them.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

My greatest sports accomplishment was a full court buzzer beating shot I hit this year.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Stephen Curry because I love shooting and he is one of the best shooters of all time.

What is your pregame routine?

My friend Moshe Sharbat and I would do a drill before every game where we would dribble back and forth and then pass to each other.

What is your earliest sports memory?

My earliest sports memory is when LeBron James did a 360 dunk against the Cavaliers when he was on the Heat.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

My weirdest sports memory is when I saw Montrezl Harrell on the Los Angeles Clippers get fouled and then start hitting his head.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory was when Stephen Curry hit a half court shot for the win against the Thunder.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

My favorite things to do when I am not playing sports are: learning, playing with my friends— Josh, Ashi and Moshe—my siblings and my cousin, Dovid.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

I love being a sportstar because I get to be in the newspaper while doing the thing that I love most.
