The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Presents Baseball & Bagels

Pete Rose – An American Dilemma with Kostya Kennedy

Sunday, February 8, 10:30 am, $15/$20

Tenafly–The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is calling all baseball fans to take part in a Sunday bagel brunch, when author Kostya Kennedy will talk about the life and times of Pete Rose, one of the most provocative and fascinating athletes of our generation. Kennedy will discuss this uniquely talented baseball player, with more base hits than anyone in baseball history, while also examining the moral question of how his gambling led him to be permanently barred not only from the game but from baseball’s Hall of Fame. Rose played in more games, came to bat more times, got more hits, and dirtied more uniforms than any player in major league history. But the controversy surrounding him remains. Should he be forgiven?

Author Kostya Kennedy has a wealth of insights to share. An editor at Sports Illustrated, Kennedy has also been a staff writer at Newsday and has written for The New York Times, FiveThirtyEight.com, The Huffington Post, The New Yorker, and other publications. He is also the author of the award-winning New York Times Best Seller 56: Joe DiMaggio and the Last Magic Number in Sports.

Join other baseball fans for a fun and informative brunch and meet Kostya Kennedy on Sunday, February 8, 10:30 am. Cost is $15/$20. Registration required; family discount available. Call Kathy at 201-408-1454. This event is co-sponsored with the James H. Grossmann Memorial Jewish Book Month.
