Their participation in the honorary board highlights the organization’s commitment to serving and empowering lone soldiers and bnei sheirut (female service volunteers) in Israel, who tirelessly take care of the home-front, selflessly defend Israel’s borders and ensure its safety.

Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, a well-respected figure in Jerusalem’s political and public life, has worked tirelessly to strengthen the city and enhance its global standing. As deputy mayor, she focuses on education, welfare and international relations, striving to make Jerusalem a more inclusive and thriving city. Her deep connection to Israel and unwavering support for the IDF make her a powerful advocate for lone soldiers and bnei sheirut in Israel.

Before he became a distinguished diplomat and scholar, Michael Oren first served in the IDF as a lone soldier. From 2009 to 2013 he served as Israel’s ambassador to the United States and in the years that followed he continued to serve Israel as a member of Knesset and deputy minister of diplomacy in the Prime Minister’s Office. He is widely recognized for his efforts to strengthen Israel’s ties with the U.S. and advocate for Israel’s security and global standing. Oren’s legacy in international diplomacy, coupled with his commitment to Israel’s defense, will be an incredible asset to The Michael Levin Base and its mission.

“We are honored and excited to welcome Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, deputy mayor of Jerusalem and Michael Oren, former Israeli ambassador to the United States, as honorary board members,” said Lizzie Noach, co-director, executive director of the Michael Levin Base. “Their leadership, dedication to Israel, and unwavering support for our lone soldiers and lone bnei sheirut will strengthen our efforts to provide critical support and care to these brave men and women. Their involvement will help us continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who protect our nation.”

“Fleur’s deep connection to Israel and unwavering support of women’s empowerment make her a powerful advocate and role model for bnei sheirut in Israel…Michael’s legacy in international diplomacy, coupled with his commitment to Israel’s defense and his experience as a lone soldier himself, will be an incredible asset to The Michael Levin Base and its mission.”

The Michael Levin Base is dedicated to providing essential services and support to lone soldiers and bnei sheirut in Israel, including emotional support, financial assistance and expansive programs. By joining the honorary board, Hassan-Nahoum and Oren will play an instrumental role in advocating for the needs of lone soldiers and bnei sheirut in Israel, and in helping the organization expand its reach and services.
