The Shabbat Project Is Coming to West Orange

Join West Orange and more than 200 cities across the world keeping one Shabbat together. Last year all events were sold out, so please make your reservations early.

The Shabbat Project’s events this year include:

Thursday, November 3, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. — Make your own ceramic kiddush cup & enjoy a free pizza dinner at the JCC in West Orange. (to register for this specific event, please contact Rhonda Lillianthal at [email protected] or 973-530-3519)

Thursday, November 10, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. — Mother/daughter challah baking at Lubavitch Center of Essex County’s brand new Shabbat House in West Orange

Friday, November 11, at 4:30 p.m. — Candle lighting and Shabbat services at Ohr Torah, featuring Rabbi Chaim Block of Shalsheles (& high holiday chazzan at AABJ&D), leading Carlebach-style davening. Following services at Ohr Torah, Shabbat dinner catered by Shimon Nissel will take place at B’nai Shalom.

Saturday, November 12, at 9 a.m. — Shabbat services at AABJ&D followed by lunch at host family homes (for those not affiliated with a synagogue) and women’s afternoon of learning

Saturday, November 12, at 6:30 p.m. — Family havdalah ceremony & concert at AABJ&D, led by Rabbi Chaim Block of Shalsheles

Reservations are required and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
