Toda v’Hatzlacha to Norbert Strauss

On December 8, 2016, Norbert Strauss joined the ranks of The Jewish Link’s regular columnists, writing under the column name “Personal History.” Since then, he has graced our pages with his insights and thoughts, and has become a welcome and beloved addition to our paper. We and our readers have learned a tremendous amount about him and his unique personal and family history over the years. He has shared and we have published multi-part columns with names like “Should/Could the Allies Have Bombed Auschwitz?,” “Churchill Was Anti-Semitic! Really?,” “My Father’s Letters to My Mother From the M/S St. Louis,” “An Eastward Flight From Poland in 1941,” “My Stories,” and much more. We have printed him in almost every issue over the past three and a half years, and our readers have told us, and Norbert himself, how much they have enjoyed reading his stories.

As you will read in this week’s issue on page 73, Norbert has decided to hang up his pen and retire from the world of professional storytelling. While we are sad to see him go, we wish him much hatzlacha as he and his beloved wife, Dorothy, embark on their well-deserved retirement together.

Norbert, you have added so much to our paper. We thank you for your contributions. You will be missed.
