While the past two years, haircuts and hair trends have been dominated by simple do-it-yourself haircuts, spring 2022 will be about embracing bolder haircuts, textures, and hair colors. Get ready to step out of your comfort zone, and reinvent your new self image.
1. Long Layers and Volume:
Ridged cuts and styles are a thing of the past. Whether you prefer long or short hair, stylists are cutting hair with several layers to allow for lots of hair movement. Soft layering that looks effortless and adds extra dimension, will be the most popular cutting technique used this spring. Short shags are now being replaced with mid-length haircuts. 90s’ layers and long layering will be seen everywhere. For wig wearers, remember you can always cut more, but the hair will not grow back. If you do plan on experimenting with this look, make sure you love it before you make the final cut.
2. Jaw-Length Bobs
While the bob will always remain a classic look, new takes will be added for the current season. Jaw and chin lengths will be top trending. The shorter lengths will be more popular this season. These lengths are being combined with or without bangs, as well as middle and side parts. For those who wear wigs, you need to be cautious of going too short, to avoid seeing the netting on the bottom of the wig. If you would like to go very short in a wig, a wig with a thicker density will help to avoid this problem. This length is also a great way to revive an old wig that has hair with split ends. A huge advantage to having a wig this length is that it will help to avoid some of the knotting problems.
3. Ponytails and or Ponytail Extensions:
Long, straight, sleek ponytails, long braided ponytails, bubble link ponytails, as well as long voluminous curly ponytails are all trending this season, and even being worn at formal events. This style is a great way to instantly change up your sheitel, while keeping you cool as the weather gets warmer. Wearing pony clip-ins, such as the popular pony pocket bun, with large headbands is a trendy and most comfortable way to cover your hair.
4. Retro Bangs:
A thick front-structured bang is making a comeback. This is the best news for wig wearers! If your wig is not a lace top or lace front wig, having this type of bang makes the wig look most natural, and is so comfortable to wear. It avoids the constant flipping of one’s sheitel hairs off one’s face. I suggest taking your older skin-top sheitel and cutting a bang in, while using a lace-top wig as your no-bang look. Lace-top wigs are a more natural look, if you prefer a no-bang look. Lace-top wigs are able to be sown in a way that allows for the hair to stay out of one’s face.
5. Bold colors
Bright bold colors always enhance one’s cut. This season, the bolder the better. One can freshen up any wig by adding in pops of highlights which will accentuate one’s cut and brighten up one’s face.
