Turtle Back Zoo Educators Come to Ben Porat Yosef

BPY second grade students had a visit with two educators from the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, who came to teach them about animal enrichment. Animal enrichment items help animals living in a zoo keep their senses and instincts sharp by mimicking situations that might occur in the wild. The students learned that these items include hiding places, balls and even sprays of perfume. The zoo educators also brought some friendly animals to show the students, including a python, a blue-tongued skink, a rooster and an owl. At the end of the program, students created their own enrichment items using cardboard tubes and strips of paper.
