Two Jewish-Themed Performances Highlight Season at Teaneck’s Black Box PAC

Teaneck’s Black Box Performing Arts Center proudly presents the rousing, immersive comedy, “Skip & Rivka’s Not-So-Kosher Interactive Jewish Wedding Experience,” playing on Sundays, May 21, June 4 and June 11, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. In “Skip & Rivka’s,” the audience “plays” the guests at the unlikely marriage of Skip Gold, a budding young musician and son of a fading soap-opera star, and Rivka Nussfogel, the ultra-religious daughter of an angry Brooklyn butcher and his observant wife. The affair brings together divergent family members and friends…and their divergent attitudes and conflicts. Can they learn to accept one another and celebrate like the new couple so deeply desires?

Tickets, which include appetizers, a buffet dinner and dessert catered by The Teaneck Doghouse, are $50/person or $80/couple and are available at www.blackboxpac.com/wedding.

“Skip & Rivka’s” is suitable for family audiences, equal to a rating of “PG.”

Also being performed is a new production of the original comedy/drama “Twist Of Faith,” in which a wealthy young commodities trader completely indifferent to his Jewish heritage is forced to spend a Sabbath in the religious Jewish section of Boro Park, Brooklyn. Sam is surprisingly—and hilariously—moved by his Sabbath experience with Baruch, a nervous young Orthodox Jew who—following his encounter with Sam—has his own faith challenged by a series of life-altering events.

“Twist of Faith” will play on Wednesdays, May 17 and 24, beginning at 8:30 p.m., with more performances TBA. Tickets are $20, and are available at www.blackboxpac.com/twist.

“Twist of Faith” tackles mature themes, with viewer discretion advised.

Group rates for 10 or more are available for both shows by calling 201-357-2221. Tickets can also be purchased at the venue; call 201-357-2221 for box office hours.

Black Box Studios is located at Teaneck’s Black Box Performing Arts Center, 200 Walraven Drive. (just off Palisade Ave.), Teaneck, New Jersey 07666 (GPS: 290 Walraven Drive).
