Two Legendary Kosher Caterers Join Forces

Ram & MD Hospitality join in bid to change the tablescape of kosher catering.

(Courtesy of Ram Caterers and MD Hospitality) After many decades of competing against each other to create some of the most creative and unique kosher catering experiences in New York City and other parts of the world, Ram Catering and MD Hospitality have merged with plans to change the landscape of kosher catering. The new brand will be called Ram & MD Hospitality and will have the resources and scale that will make it arguably the largest kosher catering operation in the region.

The new company is unique to kosher catering because of the prestigious in-house venues it operates—the Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation, and as proprietor of the famed Gotham Hall and the Ziegfeld Ballroom, two of New York City’s most high-end event spaces. The company is the only kosher caterer at Wildlife Conservation Society venues including: the New York Aquarium, the Bronx Zoo, the Central Park Zoo, the Prospect Park Zoo and the Queens Zoo. They have broken the ceiling in gaining in-house working relationships in properties throughout the country in various luxury hotel chains such as Four Seasons, St. Regis and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company due to their professionalism and the unmatched global business approach they have taken to kosher catering.

Ram & MD Hospitality will operate a 45,000-square-foot commissary in New York City and employ more than 200 employees and additional staff as events warrant.

In addition to nonprofit galas and life-cycle celebrations, Ram & MD Hospitality will continue to provide on-location catering services for events in destinations across the globe. The shared brand’s debut program for the public will be a celebrated 2021 Passover program in Orlando, which provides an incredible destination holiday experience and will comply with COVID-19 health protocols.

Simon Auerbacher of Ram will serve as president of the new company and Moshe David of MD Hospitality will be its managing director.

“For years, Moshe and I tried to outdo one another with ever higher creativity, innovation and professionalism. We realized that instead of competing, if we worked together and marshalled our resources, we would create something so unique and different in kosher catering that there would be very limited—if any—competition,” said Auerbacher.

The legacy of both companies is rooted in exceeding the fine-dining expectations of kosher consumers. Both regularly catered to the most discerning clientele in need of kosher events including those for world leaders as well as leaders of industry and top Jewish communal philanthropies.

“Our business is about creating a wow factor! The creativity that goes into every aspect of the experience is what sets us apart. That creative thinking translates into everything we do. From the planning to the plating, we infuse a uniqueness that makes every event memorable,” said David.
