Visit the ‘Little Library Box’ for All Your Reading Needs

How many times does Erev Shabbat arrive and you realize it would be great to have a new book to read? Are your children tired of all their books and want to read something new and different? The Rosenfeld family, of Wilbur Road in Bergenfield, has found the answer.

Since the beginning of August, neighbors (and the word is spreading) can stop off and choose a book from the “Little Library Box” perched on a stand in front of their home. Reading material for adults and children, approximately 30 books in all, fill the box. The idea is to take a book and pass it on.

Miriam and Jeffrey Rosenfeld, together with their four boys, had this idea for several years, but it was the aliyah of one of their neighbors and their distribution of the books they had to leave behind that gave them the push they needed to finally get this project underway. The boys take pride in going out and organizing the box, refilling it and making sure it is always properly stocked. Miriam, an eighth grade English teacher at RYNJ, knows the importance of reading and this project has enabled many who rarely get to the library to have a wonderful resource at their fingertips.

There are also several other “mini” libraries on other local streets.
