WDS Hosts Second Annual Bball Tournament

(WDS sports) Westchester Day School hosted another Slam Dunk with its second annual Basketball Tournament & Skills Competition this month! With over 60 players in the 2-on-2 tournament and skills competition, the excitement was at an all time high. All students in grades five through eight were invited to play in the tournament along with a parent, family member, or friend. There were two brackets, one for girls and another for boys, with over 25 teams competing for the championship. WDS loved welcoming back some teams of recent alumni, whose skills have impressively grown in high school. Players looked great in their WDS tournament jerseys, and cheering fans helped fill the bleachers with ruach. The games were competitive and lots of fun; but most importantly, sportsmanship and menschlichkeit were on full display.

New this year was the addition of the skills competition, which was broken into three divisions—second-fourth; fifth-eighth; alumni and parents. From dribbling, layup, shooting and obstacle course competitions, the games were fun and fierce.

Congratulations to all the winners who went home with trophies, and first place champions who received custom painted WDS basketballs. Kol hakavod to everyone who played! Special thanks to WDS eighth graders who volunteered for chesed hours and helped run an amazing event.
