On Shabbat, February 8-9, the West Orange community will host a Shabbat Shalem. As part of Jewish Disabilities and Awareness and Inclusion month, Shabbat Shalem allows us time to reflect on how we can better include people with challenges in our Jewish community, not just for this one Shabbat but all the time. Whatever the disability or challenge, all Jews are entitled to be, and should be made to feel like, an important part of Am Yisrael. Scholar-in-residence Dr. Jeff Lichtman, executive director emeritus of Yachad, the National Jewish Council for Disabilities, will speak at Congregation AABJ&D on Shabbat day and at Congregation Ohr Torah during Seudat Shlishit.
