Westchester Day School’s 76th Anniversary Dinner: Now MORE Than Ever.

(Courtesy of WDS) Westchester Day School recently celebrated its 76th Anniversary Dinner, an evening steeped in achdut (unity), themed “Now MORE Than Ever.” The event resonated deeply as the congregants gathered in support of their brothers and sisters in Israel and celebrated their incredible day school community.

Every detail of the evening was intended to spotlight the beauty, resilience, hope and strength of Eretz Yisrael and Am Yisrael. The event featured delicious Israeli-style cuisine, stunning displays from the WDS art department, a prize drawing that directly supported local Israeli businesses, moving tekes by the school’s eighth graders, and meaningful messages of strength and support from alumni across college campuses and in Israel, bravely defending the Jewish people’s homeland.

Rabbi Rockoff, head of school, encapsulated the essence of the evening, emphasizing the importance of a foundational Jewish education: Now MORE than ever. The dinner spotlighted education as a vital tool in combating hate and safeguarding our Jewish heritage. WDS, as a beacon, nurtures an environment fostering love for Israel and Judaism while upholding academic excellence.

Alumni were featured prominently throughout the night (and nationally in the media) for their articulate and informed perspectives on Israel, a testament to WDS’ impact. The prize drawing, themed “Made in Israel, Purchased in Israel,” featured an array of prizes embodying Israel’s essence—art, jewelry, cosmetics, gourmet food, wine and unique experiences.

This year’s honorees—Batya and George Puro, Rachel and Jonathan Rosenfeld, Dara and Matthew Shatzkes, alongside WDS science teacher Becky Shapiro, epitomize unwavering dedication to WDS. Their commitment is honored alongside WDS’ enduring emphasis on zionism and ahavat Yisrael within its curriculum.

Am Yisrael Chai!
