Wildcats and Lions Take Home the TABC Jr Hockey Championships

On Sunday March 22nd TABC held their winter 2015 championship games.

First up was the senior division Wildcats vs Cougars. The game was a defensive struggle, from the outset Cougars goalie Charles Gibber and Wildcats goalie Ben Zion Fiorino were sharp making save after save. The game would go to the 3rd period knotted at 0-0. With just over 8 minutes remaining playoff MVP Eli Spinowitz would light the lamp with a snapshot in the top of the net. The Cougars would press for the tying goal but the Wildcats defense led by the strong play of Mathew Ganchrow and Joe Baron would hold on for the 1-0 win.

Regular season awards were given out after the game. Avraham Gellman was named regular season MVP, Charles Gibber was named breakout player, Jonah Rubin won most improved and Daniel Koplovitz won the sportsmanship award.

The nightcap featured the Junior Division Lions and Storm. Ethan Alter and Gabriel Hornblass scored early goals for the Lions giving them a 2-0 lead after the first period.

The Storm came out flying in the 2nd period but Eli Rothenberg, Eitan Adler, Eidan Ssamet and Menachem Rothenberg were thwarted by the brilliant goaltending of playoff MVP Mathew Eichenholz. Early in the 3rd the Storm would finally break through to cut the lead to 2-1 but Gabriel Hornblass would add 2 goals to give the lions the 4-1 win.

Regular season awards were also given out after this game. Regular season co MVPs were Ethan Alter and Eli Knapp, breakout player was Eli Saks, most improved player was Ori Engel and the sportsmanship award went to Zachary Gibber.
