Yavneh Academy and Daughters of Miriam Are Better Together

On March 8, the Yavneh Academy middle school students proudly packed mishloach manot packages to be delivered to Daughters of Miriam. It all started when middle school students wanted to perform a chesed in honor of Purim. Two weeks before the chag, posters were hung detailing the project and bins were made available for food donations. Over 1,400 snacks were collected. Students in grades one through five joined in the mitzvah by creating unique cards to go in the bags. After all the food was collected and the cards completed, sixth through eighth grade students assembled the packages. The goal was met; 300 bags were produced.

The following morning, the committee chairpeople and two students, Emma Shore and Joel Varnai, whose great grandmother,is a resident at Daughters of Miriam, delivered the mishloach manot. Residents had smiles on their faces as they greeted the Yavneh Academy representatives and received their bags. A wonderful day was celebrated by all.
