Yavneh Academy eighth graders had the privilege of hearing from Rabbi Moshe Cohn, the head of International Seminars at Yad Vashem in Yerushalayim. With Rosh Chodesh Adar approaching, Rabbi Cohn presented students with a window into Jewish strength during the Shoah, with a specific focus on their determination to continue celebrating the joyous holiday of Purim even during the dark days of the Holocaust. Rabbi Cohn pointed out that when we say that Hashem performed miracles for us ba-yamim ha-hem ba-zman ha-zeh, in those days and in our days, that this idea helped to inspire the Jews living through tragedy and that their mesirat nefesh should be an inspiration for all of us.
