As part of their study of the Colonial Times, Yavneh Academy fifth graders were led by “colonists” through a rotation of daily activities common in the time period. Students learned about butter making while churning their own butter, created candles, worked as blacksmiths and wrote calligraphy with their own handmade quill pens. The fun, hands-on activities helped students appreciate the ways that times have changed from the earliest days in the New World.
