Yavneh Academy recently hosted a group of two dozen teachers from DJLN, Digital Jewish Learning, from the Miami area. These educators came to the New York-New Jersey area to see digital learning and integration in action. The educators spent an afternoon at Yavneh Academy where they visited classrooms using technology to enhance and expand the learning. They witnessed robotics in kindergarten and online research skills in Grades 1 through 3. Additionally, they viewed Interactive Nearpod lessons in third grade, online learning of Ivrit and a blended model math classroom in fourth grade. In Middle School, the seventh grade science class students were creating mitosis videos after learning the science and technology lessons through online videos which were prepared by their classroom teachers.
Yet the highlight of the visit was certainly the conversation these teachers had with a small group of middle school students. The students were able to share innovative projects they had created either by coding or by 3D print design using an online CADD program. The Yavneh MakerSpace was also an engaging topic discussed. Middle school students were able to articulate to the educators how technology has enhanced and enriched their learning at Yavneh Academy.
