Yeshiva University Men’s Cross Country Wins Baruch College Invitational

(Courtesy of yumacs.com) The Yeshiva University men’s cross country team had a successful season debut, earning first place at the Baruch College Invitational, on Sunday afternoon. The 8k race took place at Van Cortlandt Park. The Maccabees registered 46 points as a unit.

This is Yeshiva’s first top finish since winning the College of Staten Island Invitational in 2016. “I am very proud of everyone’s hard effort,” Yeshiva University head coach Jose Miranda said. “This is an excellent start to the season.”

Yeshiva had two runners finish in the top 10. Senior Yonatan Schreiber finished fifth overall, with a time of 30:05.59, while junior Jonathan Greenberg was the eighth runner to finish, completing the race in 30:45.16.

Junior Uri Balsam finished just shy of the top 10, earning an 11th place finish at the 32:01.68 mark, followed by sophomore Zachary Greenberg, who was the 15th runner to complete the 8k race at 33:05.00. Senior Yosef Pfeffer followed in 19th place, with a time of 33:56.71. Senior Noah Hazan earned a 22nd place finish, at 34:14.73, while sophomore Joshua Hamburger followed in 25th place with a time of 34:54.55.

Rounding out the Yeshiva runners were junior Jakob Deutsch (28th overall in 35:55.39) and classmate Joshua Weinstein (33rd overall in 37:42.48).
