Yeshivat He’Atid Hurricanes Join Yeshiva Basketball League

This year, for the very first time, Yeshivat He’Atid is excited to announce they have formed their first-ever basketball team for the middle school yeshiva basketball league. The He’Atid Hurricanes have both a girls and a boys team. Due to the smaller size of their first class of sixth graders, the team consists of both fifth and sixth graders for this year. The boys team is being coached by parent Yoni Greenberg. Yoni stated, “We’re a new school, so obviously many people aren’t expecting a lot from us, but these kids have fun, work hard and are looking forward to proving they can compete with the best of them!”

Dave Gross, another fellow parent, is coaching the girls team along with Michal Pruzansky as assistant coach. When asked what he is looking forward to with the team, Dave replied, “I’m looking forward to competing in the YMSSA and building the He’Atid Hurricane girls basketball program. With mostly fifth graders and girls who haven’t played organized sports before, we’re going to work on skills and learn from our games during the inaugural season.”

The girls team just competed in their first game as a visitor team against Moriah on February 6. With a packed gym and bleachers full, the He’Atid Hurricanes had plenty fans cheering them on. The girls played hard and put up a strong fight. While the team did not come up victorious, they look forward to the rest of their season. The team is eager to improve with each game, gain skills and, most importantly, have a great time!
