Yeshivat He’Atid Launches Anti-Bullying Initiative

Wristbonds aims to connect Yeshivat He’Atid students with fellow students in an effort to combat bullying and build school unity through collectible friendship wristbands.

Yeshivat He’Atid is excited to introduce their Wristbonds project, a school unity project for Yeshivat He’Atid’s milestone fifth year and anti-bullying effort for the greater educational community. Yeshivat He’Atid’s fifth year in existence is a milestone moment for the fast-growing Jewish day school, with their new state-of-the art building and new administration that includes Rav Tomer Ronen, Dr. Tani Foger and Rabbi Yair Daar.

Yeshivat He’Atid students can order Wristbonds, plastic wristbands of different colors and styles, which can be shared, traded or given away to fellow students and faculty members, resulting in a physical “bond” with a friend or peer. Once a student collects five or more Wristbonds, they earn a unique Friendship Wristbond that symbolizes their achievement at building bonds. Throughout the year, students can earn unique Wristbonds to add to their collection through school volunteerism and participation projects. Wristbonds also has a social & digital component—students and parents can also share their children’s Wristbonds pictures on Facebook and at YeshivatHeatid.org/Wristbonds, tagging the school with a #5For5 hashtag that represents the school’s fifth year.

“The goal for the Wristbonds project is to create both a greater sense of community among Yeshivat He’Atid families and stronger, longer-lasting friendships for Yeshivat He’Atid students,” said Yitzie Hyman, a Marketing Committee member for Yeshivat He’Atid. “Through Wristbonds, kids can self-identify as a proud Yeshivat He’Atid student and create friendships before the school year starts.”

With the recent PokemonGo craze and popular BeanieBoo collectibles trends, Yeshivat He’Atid taps into the collectibles trends to power the Wristbonds projects. The trend of collectibles among kids remains strong (Beanie Boos, yarmulkas, headbands, bracelets etc.) and will help power this project. The Wristbonds project was timed to launch during the international Summer Olympics, a fitting tie-in, where international athletes bond through athletic competitions.

Bullying and cyber-bullying is a growing problem for students and schools across the nation. Wristbonds aims to combat bullying by focusing on bonding students from all grades and walks of life before, during and after school. There is no greater bond than a boys’ handshake or girls’ hand-holding, and Wristbonds, worn at the very point of that bond, can play a very powerful role in identifying and developing future friendships. More bonding will mean less bullying; that’s the goal of Wristbonds.
