He’Atid eighth graders have been delving into the first paragraph of Shema with the meforash (rabbinic commentator) of their choice. They detailed the explanation of “their” commentator to the rest of the class and added a biography of the rabbi. To add some “flavor” to the presentation, they dressed up as their chosen rabbi and brought in special foods specific to the country where their rabbi lived. From baguettes dipped in olive oil and vinegar to ladyfingers and fresh pizza, a delicious and informative Shema experience was had by all!
