Yom Hazikaron Takes On Meaning at Yeshivat He’Atid

On Yom Hazikaron, Yeshivat He’Atid came together to commemorate the day in a somber and meaningful way. After tefillah, students in grades one through six gathered for a brief tekes to commemorate the day. They focused on appreciating Tzahal and students heard from a number of teachers—some who served and some who didn’t—what the Israeli Army means to each of them. Afterwards, Yizkor, Keil Maleh Rachamim and the Mi Sheberach for Chayalim was recited and then watched a slideshow focused on Tzahal. The tekes ended with the singing of Hatikvah, made even more beautiful by Leah Miller who accompanied the singing on her harp.

Following the ceremony, middle school students participated in an educational program during which they learned about three individual chayalim who gave their lives to protect Am Yisrael. As a follow-up activity, each student wrote a letter to the family of one of the chayalim they learned about. The letters will be delivered to the families in the near future.
