Dear Shayna B.,

I am sooo tired after the holidays. It feels IMPOSSIBLE to wake up for school after I have eaten and played and gone to sleep late after such busy days. How can I be an A student full of energy when all I want to do is sleep the days away until the next holiday?

Sincerely,
Sleepy Sloan

Dear Sleepy Sloan,

Holidays are fun, but so is being able to wake up in the morning. Here are some tips to get you back to school mode. The first and most important is to go to bed EARLY.

As soon as yom tov is over, run into a warm bath and then get in comfy pajamas. That has to make you tired. Don’t watch TV. It’ll keep you up longer. Read a book. (Not a book so good you’ll stay up late trying to finish it!) Drink tea or warm water every night. Listen to calming sounds-I prefer the rain sounds I think the ocean can get scary. Try not to take naps. I know that’s a hard one on a holiday. After all these genius pieces of advice, you’re sure to fall asleep early and be 100% awake. But if you’re still walking into walls the morning after a holiday, if you miss half of school it’s not the end of the world.

Best of luck,
Shayna B.
