Young Israel of East Brunswick Hosts Talk by Head of Shurat HaDin

(l-r): East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen, Judy Goldrich, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner and Rabbi Yaakov Wasser.

The Young Israel of East Brunswick drew a nearly full main sanctuary crowd on Sunday, November 3 for a talk by Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, “After October 7th: Bearing Witness and Fighting Back.”

Darshan-Leitner, an attorney, is the director of the Shurat HaDin Legal Center. Shurat HaDin, based in Tel Aviv, uses legal actions and civil litigation to safeguard Israel, combat terrorism and defend Jewish communities worldwide. They protect Israel against lawfare proceedings, combat antisemitism, fight academic and economic boycotts, and challenge those who seek to delegitimize Israel. Shurat HaDin has achieved success in bringing legal actions against terrorist entities, combating BDS, fighting social media giants for posting incitement to terrorism and antisemitic extremism, and training the next generation of activist attorneys.

The November 3 event was organized by the YIEB Israel Advocacy Committee in partnership with the Wasser Jewish Learning Institute.

Commenting to The Jewish Link after the event, YIEB member Faigie Cornick stated: “What a powerhouse! In her soft-spoken way, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner described how she, and the lawyers she enlists, relentlessly and ingeniously legally pursue entities that directly and indirectly support terrorists’ efforts. What struck me most is when she was asked if she ever gets discouraged. She answered, ‘No, I never get discouraged. When we start a case, we take it to the end. We don’t stop.’ This should be a life lesson for all of us—never to give up when fighting for a cause we believe in.”
